NAMI Minnesota champions justice, dignity and respect for all people affected by mental illness. Through education, advocacy, and support, we strive to eliminate the pervasive stigma of mental illness, effect positive changes in the mental health system and increase the public and professional understanding of mental illness.

NAMI Minnesota provides nine free education classes for family members, support groups for adults with mental illnesses, families of children, and special class for children who have parent or sibling who lives with a mental illness (Kidshops); a helpline fielding over 4000 calls per year. There are free booklets that explain the mental health system and other issues, free downloadable fact sheets and videos that provide great information and reduce stigma. NAMI Minnesota is a statewide grassroots organization with nearly 100% of the board and staff either living with a mental illness or having a family member with a mental illness. There are 35 local affiliates, and NAMI Minnesota is affiliated with the national organization.
