The goal of Youth MOVE Seminole is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness in Seminole County for youth who face behavioral or mental health challenges. Youth MOVE also strives to infuse the youth voice at the decision-making level of child-serving agencies.
Youth MOVE Seminole was established as a chapter of Youth MOVE National in November 2012. It is an initiative of Community Based Care of Central Florida, funded by Families and Communities Together in Seminole (FACTS). All members of this youth-run organization are between the ages of 13 and 25. Some have current or previous involvement, directly or indirectly, with the child welfare, exceptional education and/or juvenile justice systems, and some may have behavioral health challenges.
• Provide family to family or youth to youth support on an individual family or youth level (e.g., peer-to-peer, family support partners, parent navigators)
• A local youth-guided chapter of a national or statewide organization
